The Disability Accommodations and Success Strategies (DASS) office at SMU is committed to ensuring that students with disabilities have equal access to the University, including its curriculum, programs, and activities. The office evaluates and approves reasonable accommodations for students who are significantly impacted by a condition considered disabling under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Through collaboration with students, faculty, and staff, DASS empowers students to effectively utilize on and off-campus resources to achieve academic and personal success. If you anticipate needing accommodations, you can learn more about our services in the New to DASS section.
This summer, join us for a Virtual DASS Orientation! A DASS staff member will lead an overview and Q&A about our office, requesting DASS services, our Success Strategies program, and other campus resources.
Sessions held on:
- Tuesday, June 30, 2-3 p.m
- Wednesday, July 15, 2-3 p.m. - This session is specifically for students with autism and their families
- Tuesday, July 28, 2-3 p.m.
- Wednesday, August 5, 2-3 p.m.

Success Strategies
Academic coaching, a specialized section of UNIV 1210: Academic Success and Personal Development, and Students for New Learning are available for neurodivergent students - those with ADHD, LD, and ASD.
DASS Peer Mentors are available to all DASS students!

Weekly academic coaching appointments and academic skills-building meetings with the DASS Learning Specialist are available for SMU students with ADHD, LD, and ASD.

Did you know there's a section of the UNIV 1210 course reserved just for students with ADHD, LD, and ASD?

DASS Peer Mentors
DASS Peer Mentors are DASS students, just like you! If you're a new SMU student, a mentor can help orient you campus, find the perfect spot to study, or explore SMU's many resources. DASS mentors can also act as accountability partners or ADHD body-doubles to get you motivated and stay on track.

Students for New Learning (SNL) is a chartered student organization for neurodivergent students - those with ADHD, LD, and ASD - run by neurodivergent students. They focus on education, support, networking, leadership, and outreach.
